BBQ Raising Funds for Good Night Sleep Tight Charitable Trust

Feb 29, 2024 | News

Earlier this month on a somewhat cooler Sunday a small group of our Club Members spent the day outside Mitre 10 Papanui selling sausages and bacon butties to raise funds in support of the Good Night Sleep Tight Charitable Trust. This event was organised and coordinated by our Fundraising Director Garry. Our thanks also goes to Hellers for the supply of sausages free of charge.

The Club has supported the Good Night Sleep Tight Charitable Trust over several years either through donations of money or of sleepwear items.

The objective of the Good Night Sleep Tight Charitable Trust is to ensure children in greater Christchurch can go to bed warm by providing winter Sleepwear and Bedding. Good Night Sleep Tight was established in 2017 to support the most vulnerable in our community, by providing winter sleepwear and bedding to children in need.

Each nominated child receives an individual pack containing Pyjamas, a Singlet, a Dressing gown and Slippers/ Bed socks plus Sheets, a Comforter, a Blanket, a Hat and a Book to read at bedtime.

Inclusive of the net profit raised from the BBQ, Club Directors and Trustees of the Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside Charitable Trust approved a distribution of $2,050 to the Good Night Sleep Tight Charitable Trust with a top-up from our Trust funds. These funds have been raised by other fundraising events, particularly our well-known Rotary BOOKarama.

We will be holding this year’s BOOKarama 2024 on the 26th, 27th and 28th of April at the Bishopdale Recreation Centre.
