Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside Charitable Trust

Purpose of the Trust

To promote the improvement of literacy and numeracy through

  • the provision of resources to kindergartens, schools and other educational institutions
  • the provision of scholarships and prizes for academic achievement
  • providing assistance to other organisations working to improve literacy and numeracy

 

To improve our community by meeting needs of the following through service and fundraising projects

  • needs of the aged or infirm
  • needs of women and children
  • needs of those affected by poverty
  • public health needs

To promote the development of leadership and vocational skills in the community through

  • Provision and sponsorship of leadership courses to young people
  • Provision of vocational skills training and or support to vocational training institutions

To improve any of the following:

  • Public amenities including public halls, libraries, museums, parks and gardens, sporting and pool facilities of a similar nature
  • The natural environment
  • Protection of human life through rescue and emergency services
  • Protection of welfare of animals
  • Social rehabilitation resources

To provide assistance to other charitable organisations through hands-on service, fundraising events and or the provision of sponsorship.

To provide other assistance to our community or other communities in times of disaster.

To otherwise encourage participation in the community on a non-partisan basis.

Structure of the Trust

The Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside Charitable Trust maintains a Trust Structure with five appointed Trustees from members of the Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside who are appointed for three year terms. Trustees are eligible for re-appointment on a rotating basis and are appointed by each current President of the Rotary Club.

Each year, the Trustees elect a Chairperson and Secretary and appoint a Treasurer who may not be a Trustee. The Trust will also appoint an Auditor.

The Trust’s Financial year ends on 30  June.

Annually in December a report is filed with Charities Services.

The Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside Charitable Trust was established in June 2008

The Trust is registered with the NZ Charities Services with registration number CC31387
