Small Business Award 2022 – E-Mega Store Ltd

Recognising a business that sets a high standard of performance, service quality and customer satisfaction

The Small Business Award recognises ‘a business that sets a high standard of performance, service quality and customer satisfaction’ and this year two awards in this category were presented.

The first recipient was E-MegaStore Limited.

E-MegaStore based in Cranford Street, specialise in e-bikes and electric scooters with the widest range in New Zealand.

Those that survive in small business have a real customer focus, deservedly accumulate a loyal customer base with a focus on their specialty as well as being recognised as experts in their field.

In checking with customers who have bought e-bikes through this firm, they have commented how helpful they are especially to people who are novice bike riders. They have appreciated their help when purchasing and their post purchase support and servicing. Word of this excellent service certainly gets around and this has made this store well respected in our community.

Recognising a person who has contributed significantly over an extended period of time to a specific vocation to a high standard of excellence

The recipient for 2022 is Erica Wardell

Erica has worked at Unichem Bishopdale Pharmacy for 8 years.  Those that have dealt with Erica have found her both friendly and helpful. Erica has a special ability to connect with her patients in a meaningful way. She has excellent relationship with her patents, her work colleagues and other health professionals.

Erica is a great listener, has a calm demeanour and builds trusts with patients.

She has an excellent knowledge in her field.

Pride of Workmanship Award 2022 – Kevin Cawley

Recognising a person who has contributed significantly over an extended period of time to a specific vocation to a high standard of excellence

The recipient for 2022 is Kevin Cawley

There are a lot of people that enjoy what they do, some are good at their chosen vocation, some are very skilled, a few are passionate but very few achieve international recognition as being an expert in their field.

Keven is one of New Zealand’s most accomplished and respected lighting designers. His 25 year involvement in theatre showed him how light could influence people’s moods and their perceptions of space. Kevin has lit up many popular stage musicals including Les Misérables.

Flowing on from his theatrical experience Kevin works with commercial clients both in New Zealand and Internationally. 

His company name is Total Lighting.

Locally some of his projects have included the Control Tower at Christchurch International Airport, Christchurch Casino, Knox Church, The Issac Theatre Royal, Lyttleton Time Ball Station and many more.

Kevin has an impressive residential portfolio including being a winner of the 2021 Canterbury Master Bulders Supreme New House of the Year.

Kevin has been guest speaker at a number of international events including in Australia, India, China and New York.  He is also been a guest lecturer at both Otago and Massey Universities.  

Small Business Award 2022 – Turbocare NZ Ltd

Recognising a business that sets a high standard of performance, service quality and customer satisfaction

The Small Business Award recognises ‘a business that sets a high standard of performance, service quality and customer satisfaction’ and this year two awards in this category were presented.

The second recipient of a small business award for 2022 was Turbo Care NZ Limited.

A family owned and operated business based in Langstone Lane in Papanui, Turbo Care specialise in turbochargers: new, reconditioned turbos, parts, servicing and diagnostic work. 

Customers include those involved with everything from performance vehicles such as rally cars, jet boats, quad bikes, through to buses, trucks, campervans, farm machines such as tractors, combine harvesters, Mining equipment including dump trucks, diggers, loaders as well as fishing vessels.

SME’s are a huge part of the New Zealand business sector, and nearly all are family owned and operated

Gary, Judy, and Jarrod Whall as well as Juliet McCormack represented Turbo Care at our Community Awards Night. 

Based on the nomination and talking to people we found that the Turbo Care team are known as  experts in their field as well as having a real customer focus with clients returning again and again . 

It is all there attributes that make the Turbo Care team worthy recipients of our second 2022 Small Business Award.
