Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside: Powering Community Resilience with Potters Kitchen

At Rotary, we believe in creating lasting impact through partnerships that strengthen communities. Again we are proud to support the Potters Welfare Community Trust or Potters Kitchen as it more commonly known, a local charitable trust dedicated to feeding families, supporting vulnerable groups, and responding in times of crisis
Funding That Makes a Difference
Our recent funding enabled Potters Kitchen to purchase a power generator, a critical resource that ensures they can continue serving Christchurch even during emergencies. This investment has elevated Potters Kitchen to an official Emergency Hub under Civil Defense, with a fully trained team ready to respond when disaster strikes.
Empowering Outreach and Education
Beyond emergency preparedness, Potters Kitchen is committed to education and community engagement. On January 17, 2026, they will host a children’s cooking event at Redwood Library—a fun, interactive way to bring families together and teach healthy cooking skills.
Stories That Inspire
One of the most remarkable outcomes of Potters Kitchen’s work is the story of one of their volunteers.
Once homeless, he now manages outreach for the organization and is excelling in his studies at ARA. His journey reflects the transformative power of community support—something Rotary is proud to help foster.
Christmas Outreach Breakfast
Potters Kitchen’s annual Christmas breakfast event held early December welcomed more than 60 attendees this year.
Why Rotary Supports Potters Kitchen
Our partnership with Potters Kitchen aligns with Rotary’s mission to serve humanity and strengthen local communities. By funding essential resources and supporting outreach programs, we help ensure that families in Christchurch have access to food, care, and hope—especially in times of need.
