Remembering the Christchurch Earthquake — 15 Years On As we pause to reflect on February 22, 2011, we also honour the incredible spirit of service that helped Christchurch rise again. Rotary clubs across our city, New Zealand, and the world played a vital role in the recovery — not just through funding, but through hands on support when it mattered most. From delivering Emergency Response Kits and supporting displaced families, to rebuilding playgrounds, community halls, and school facilities, Rotary’s contribution helped restore stability, connection, and hope. Rotary volunteers checked on vulnerable residents, delivered meals and water, and partnered with local agencies to fill urgent gaps. International Rotary support amplified these efforts, helping fund long term projects and wellbeing initiatives that strengthened community resilience.
