Medical Equipment to Fiji

In 2015 member Rob Geering identifed surplus medical equipment such as zimmer frames, hospital beds, wheel chairs, crutches were being disposed of.

He quickly latched on to the idea of transporting this equipment to the Pacific Islands, courtesy of Parks Towing Ltd, who stored the ever increasing pile of equipment for a number of months at no charge,

The impact of Cyclone Winston in early 2016 saw an immediate need for this medical equipment. The International Committee in conjunction with the Rotary NZ World Community Service (RNZWCS) co-ordinated with the Rotary Club of Taveuni Island to get the medical equipment to Fiji and in particular to Taveuni Island.

This also involved a working group from Bishopdale Burnside loading the equipment out of Rob’s business and loading into containers for shipment to the islands.
