Why I Joined Rotary

While the Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside recently celebrated 50 years, it also celebrated 50 years in Rotary for Founding Member Robin Mundy. We took the time out to ask Robin a few questions.

Why did you join Rotary?

My father was a Rotarian at Belfast Rotary so I had an understanding of how Rotary operates. We were living and vegetable farming in Harewood 50 years ago when I was invited to join a new club opening in Bishopdale.

You have been in Rotary 50 years – what has kept you there?

Meeting people once a week from all walks of life . The opportunity to give something back to the community.

What were some of your highlights over those 50 years?

A personal achievement was attending 100% for 25 years.

Meeting the World President when I attended a Rotary meeting in Bangkok

Being President of our club in 1981.

I was instrumental in the forming of the Rotoract Club.

Fellowship – Home Hosting, Tastings of the new wines each year at our winery, The many fun trips away with Rotarians and their families.

Selling programmes at the rugby for a number of years with my friend George.
