2024 Rotary Science & Technology Forum

Mar 22, 2024 | News

The Rotary Science and Technology forum was held once again in Auckland this January, marking its 34th year. This prestigious event provides attendees with a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of science, mathematics, and technology courses available for study. It also offers valuable insights into the requirements for tertiary study applications and future career prospects. Moreover, participants have the privilege of visiting various commercial or academic science and technology organizations, expanding their horizons even further.

This forum is specifically recommended for Year 12 students from New Zealand Secondary Schools who exhibit a keen interest in Science, Mathematics, and Technology subjects. Upon the recommendation of their School’s Head of Science, these students apply for consideration to attend the event. This year, the Rotary Club of Bishopdale Burnside sponsored the attendance of two exceptional students from Burnside High School – Baxter and Shivam.

The event featured renowned speaker Dr. Michelle Dickinson, commonly known as ‘Nanogirl’. Her expertise and insights added immense value to the forum. However, it isn’t all just lectures and learning; recreational activities such as volleyball are also part of the program, ensuring a well-rounded experience for all participants.

Shivam and Baxter, after attending the forum, had the opportunity to meet with and speak to Club Members last Monday night. They shared their valuable feedback, expressing their excitement and gratitude for the enriching experiences they had at this year’s event.
