No Horsing Around Here
During May, our Club through its Charitable Trust donated 12 horse blankets to Christchurch Riding for the Disabled (CRDA) to keep their horses warm during our chilly days and nights.
CRDA is a non-profit organisation providing riding sessions for people with disabilities.
At any given time CRDA have up to 70 riders attending sessions with the ages of the participants ranging from 3 to 70 years.
Riding sessions are normally conducted five days a week and are facilitated by trained Coaches, with the assistance of up to 70 volunteers.
The benefits gained from horse riding are improved balance, coordination and posture. Confidence and self-esteem also get a boost! Working with horses improves communication and social skills.
Community Director Sue co-ordinated this Community project, and she is photographed with President Rod, Liz and Tony officially handing over the blankets to CRDA President Pippa Parker and Rocco and Tiger, who proudly show off their covers.
Letter of Thanks from Christchurch Riding for the Disabled
Thursday 30th May 2024
Dear Sue, Liz, Tony and Rod
Thank you all so much for coming to visit us yesterday at our equestrian centre.
To receive this donation to buy new covers for all our horses and ponies is very generous and something very important to us. We rely on these wonderful animals so much in our work to help provide therapy for people with disabilities that it is vital we take great care of their welfare.
By providing the funds to make sure all of them have good quality covers and are ready for whatever Canterbury weather throws at us you have played a big part in helping us do this.
Thank you from all the team at CRDA and from your new friends Rocco and Tiger.
Please do visit us again.
Yours Sincerely
Pippa Parker
